Sinopse
This time round directed by and with a new dramaturgy, “Underground” is the voice of a harassed man who engages in a monologue filled with discrepancies and contradictions. The play is based on "Notes from Underground", a turning point in the work of Dostoyevsky that would precede and impact his major works, ruthlessly awakening a new awareness of man’s standing within society, and moving towards literature’s uncharted territory, which would lead George Steiner to consider it the most decisive text for literary Modernity, formally speaking. “Underground” is a monologue that continuously reinvents itself as a false dialogue with imaginary counterparts, faking answers that it immediately takes apart, in a game of mirrors where escape and confrontation are equal, and which is exposed here in the solitude of stage.
