Calhau!

Calhau! was born in 2006 in Porto. It’s the name of the body of work developed in communion by Marta Ângela and João Artur in the irre and relevant and recognizable forms of music, text, visual arts and performance. They’ve presented their work at venues such as Palais de Tokyo (Paris), CCA (Glasgow), Cafe Oto (London), Sesc Pompeia (São Paulo), R.U. (New York), Serralves (Porto), among others. They have published books and albums on labels such as Kraak, Discrepant and Takuroku.

In 2024, April 25th will be 50 years old. Calhau! turns 18. Young Turkish women in turkey. Old turkeys in Turkey. Franchise of the empire giving out. What kills through meaning, dies through meaning (Baudrillard). A concert for voice, electronics and other things.
