Sinopse
Existent but overlooked, that shadow is part of the subject and his cultural identity. “Assombro” [Amazement] is a solo piece made up of a series of living tableaux, songs that arise from a voice dislocated from the mouth. It seeks to understand the ghosts haunting us today by dancing and reviving Portuguese traditional songs. It calls them, listens to their voices and looks for transgression through means of dissociation. Based on women songs, the music was selected from Giacometti’s records (1960s and 70s), Tiago Pereira’s project “A Música Portuguesa a Gostar Dela Própria”[Portuguese Music Liking Itself] and other sources of family oral transmission. An excuse to discuss identity crisis and womanhood. What place is left for the songs from the past, which are in danger of being forgotten in the archives? Songs that were swollen by time, and that claim to be heard today.
