Teatro Rivoli, November 29, 2003.
Deborah York and Robin Blaze, with Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, performed the program Il Appuntamento Amoroso. Twenty years later, on the same stage, the Program Facce d’Amore is presented, where the Portuguese public has the opportunity to hear, as national premiere, the Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, accompanied by the orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro. These two programmes include the theme of Love and Jorge Gil (1943-2019), founder of Em Órbita, a reference in the nationsl radio scene and in the organization of classical music concerts. The first was the last concert organized by him, the second pays tribute for the role he played in the dissemination of one of his passions, music. — João Miguel, Duarte, Teresa e Tomás Gil (sons of Jorge Gil)

Jakub Józef Orliński is a Polish countertenor. Orliński has quickly emerged as one of the most vibrant performers on the international classical music scene, triumphing on stage, in concert, and on recording. His sold-out concerts and recitals throughout Europe and the United States have attracted new followers to the art form, and his live performance of Vivaldi’s Vedrò con mio diletto filmed at the Aix-en-Provence Festival has amassed more than 8,5 million online views. He graduated from the Juilliard School in 2017 and immediately began his international career as Orimeno in Cavalli’s Erismena in his debut at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. He works with prestigious ensembles and performs concerts throughout Europe and the U.S. in the most important concert halls such as the Wigmore Hall and Barbican Center, Verbier Festival, Carnegie Hall, Disney Hall, Théâtre des Champs Élysées, Teatro Real and Theater an der Wien.

The name of the ensemble il Pomo d’Oro refers to Antonio Cesti’s opera from the year 1666. Composed to the wedding celebrations of Emperor Leopold I and Margarita Teresa of Spain, Il Pomo d’Oro was probably one of the largest, most expensive and most spectacular opera productions in the still young history of the genre. Founded in 2012, it soon established itself as an ensemble of outstanding quality in the field of historically informed performance. Il Pomo d’Oro has more than 10 years of intense concert activity worldwide and an impressive list of 35 recordings, many of them award winning. The ensemble is particularly known and sought after as a partner of singers, be it for solo recitals or entire operas in performance and recording. Regularly invited to perform in the most prestigious festivals and concert halls in Europe, Il Pomo d’Oro has performed different programs with the countertenors Jakub Józef Orliński, Franco Fagioli, Max Emanuel Cenčić and Xavier Sabata, the mezzosopranos Ann Hallenberg and Joyce DiDonato and with the sopranos Francesca Aspromonte y Emöke Baráth. Il Pomo d’Oro is official ambassador of El Sistema Greece, a humanitarian project to provide free musical education to children in Greek refugee camps. The ‘il Pomo d’Oro Academy‘ was launched online during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, offering free music lessons to music students worldwide.
