The Sybil

“The adaptation of The Sibyl for cinema is based on two premises: one, the desire to transpose the spirit of the work onto the screen, beyond its decal. Another, the understanding of history as a spiral: it is part of the flow of the world, it seems to end where it begins (…)” says director and screenwriter Eduardo Brito. It is a rigorous transposition into cinema of the eponymous and seminal novel by Agustina Bessa-Luís, about the complex relationship between a young writer and her aunt, a woman of means and a woman of strength, premiering at the end of the author's Centenary celebrations.
