Sinopse
The pathetic lab-play “Gobo. Digital Glossary” is a collection of installations or mini-performances in a single one. Organised in a clear structure, they pass on to the spectator their representation of Gobo (a non-existent hero that reminds us of Godot, although the authors did not intend to establish an obvious connection), so that the audience sees him for what he is –innocent and wounded; pathetic and desperate; emotional and hotheaded. In order to see Gobo more clearly, we need to look at him through the boring chosen objects, which are allowed to speak ironically about Gobo and constitute the classic example of Nothing (non-material things). In this way, they slowly slide down the metal post, tinkle inside the washing machine and proudly call themselves “Gobo’s Line”.
Akhe Theatre was founded in 1989 by three artists, Maksim Isaev, Pavel Semtchenko and Vadim Vasiliev, members of the glorious Boris Ponizovski theatre Yes –No. Working out of the famous Pushkinskaya 10, the centre of independent culture in the early 1990s, in St. Petersburg, the members of the group proclaimed the independent nature of their theatre, both in terms of style and form, and engaged in performance, film and fine arts, which brought them fame and fortune in St. Petersburg and in the artistic society of Moscow. In the mid-1990s, Vadim Vasiliev quit the group. Ever since, Maksim Isaev and Pavel Semtchenko have considered themselves a theatre collective meant for the ordinary stage (in classical terms), inviting professional actors for their performances, and the group regularly takes part in theatre festivals in Russia and abroad.
