Aquecimento Paralelo with Ece Canli

Always associated with a given performance, this workshop challenges the participants to try its vocabulary and dramaturgy through movement. It allows for a brief approach to different artistic languages and enables one to relate to the performances in a way that is rather different than the usual.


Ece Canlı is an artist, musician and researcher; born and raised in Turkey and based in Portugal. Her academic work sits at the intersection of decolonial queer feminist epistemologies and materiality of body politics while her artistic work explores liminal states of mythic bodies, counterfactual narratives and extralinguistic expressions through extended vocal techniques. She has lectured, published and performed internationally, as soloist and in collaboration with other artists, musicians and thinkers. She is currently a researcher at CECS (The Communication and Society Research Centre) at University of Minho and continues to compose and perform in NOOITO, a duo project with the harpist Angélica V. Salvi (ES); in COBRA’CORAL, a vocal trio with artists Cléila Colonna (FR) and Catarina Miranda (PT); in VOX FLORA, VOX FAUNA, her solo debut which was released as an album in November 2020; and in other voice-, sound- and text-related projects.
