Based on the autobiographic experience of motherhood, Cátia Pinheiro puts forward a performance whose motto is to write a letter to her daughter. A letter that comes in a performing format that will be the result of several collaborations, all based on the same premise: writing a letter about the world in which we’d like this little being to live. Between fear, guilt and unbridled joy, Carta à Matilde [Letter to Matilde] starts off in a rather intimate place to then throw the world a performance-letter dwelling on this ruthless relation that is raising a child and bring it to a place that is as much strange and frightening as it is amazing and wonderful.


Cátia Pinheiro did her theatre training at ACE – Contemporary Performance Academy. She worked as an actress for several directors and companies such as António Fonseca, Nuno Cardoso, Nuno Carinhas, Diogo Infante, Nuno M. Cardoso, Mundo Perfeito and Cão Solteiro, among others. In 2009, together with José Nunes, she founded Estrutura, where she developed several projects, of which she highlights Língua [Language], Party, Pathos, M’18, The End, Geocide and Uma Gaivota [A Seagull]. She also developed the cross-disciplinary projects F…, The Walk and Display, and she coordinated the training programme Recurso.
