Sinopse

Blackface is a solo performance written and directed by Marco Mendonça, a musical conference between stand-up comedy and fantasy, between satire and physical theatre, between burlesque and documentary. Drawing on personal experiences and the history of blackface as a racist theatrical practice—from its roots in the USA to Portuguese cases—, Marco Mendonça looks at the limits of what can and cannot be depicted on stage. Considering the extensive gallery of events in which this racist practice has been used to portray black people as inferior members of Portuguese society, is it possible to think that racism does not exist in Portugal?

This performance contains references to racial violence.
