FRANCISCO BERÉNY DOMINGUES e TIAGO AZEVEDO E SILVA got together to form a duo in 2019. The range of timbres, textures and volumes that the cello and the guitar offer enable the ensemble to explore several tones and sounds. Francisco Berény Domingues is pursuing a master’s degree at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under professor Laura Young, and Tiago Azevedo e Silva a degree at ESMAE – Higher School of Music and Performing Arts under professor Filipe Quares-ma. The programme they’ll present—a Portuguese premiere—paints a picture of Spanish popular music, which was immortalised by 20th and 21st century composers, and is characterised by flamenco, the singing of the cello and the typical guitar accompaniment.
