My Favourite Cake

Mahin, 70, has lived alone in Tehran since her husband's death and her daughter's departure to Europe. A conversation at one of her regular lunches with her friends awakens her desire to break her routine and meet someone new. After defending a young woman stopped by the morality police, she meets Faramarz, a taxi driver with equal feelings of loneliness and dissatisfaction. She invites him to dinner and the two share memories of their lives. The film, with a precious and fragile intimacy in an oppressive society, was banned in Iran and authorities confiscated the passports of the directors, who are also prevented from filming.
