ANA MULA / CUECAS EM 8

When you’re new to a place, there’s a series of clashes and concerns that condition your stay in that new universe. Cuecas em 8 [8-shaped Underpants] intends to be a kind of manifesto on the adaptation process of a woman in a foreign country, based in particular on testimonies from the performers themselves and from narratives gathered in local communities. These views, which are somehow grievances, analyse the way in which the signs of adaptation and maladjustment shared by women of various nationalities manifest in ‘unprepared’ performers.

ANA MULA (Spain, 1991) has a degree in artistic direction and acting from ESMAE – Higher School of Music and Performing Arts. Her work focuses on research that encompasses theatre, dance and performance. She participated in the European festival for young stage directors Fast Forward. She created the pieces Percaminho, Autólise [Autolysis] and Embalagem [Package]. She’s currently working on the project Fondo with the support of the Cultural Promotion Fund.
