87th Anniversary Teatro Rivoli

Writing the history of Rivoli is recording defining moments in the life of the city. Our unique history is part of that of the city, it marks its places with each brief, relevant moment. Rivoli lies between big and small history, from a collective scale to the most intimate one, ever since the early 1930s, when opera and theatre dominated the city’s artistic landscape. It even brought sound to film, which was an innovation at the time. Rivoli is a place that crossed many generations, rather different political and social backgrounds, and good and not so good periods. Most importantly, it is a place of renewal and reinvention. “100% Porto” is the title of a project by the German-Swiss collective Rimini Protokoll that brings 100 city inhabitants to the stage of Rivoli’s Great Auditorium in a performance that demographically and socially profiles Porto, resulting in a true living map. “100% Porto” is therefore the motto to celebrate Rivoli’s anniversary over the course of two days (January 19 and 20) for the first time, meeting the number of people that have been turning up at this celebration in the last few years. The programme includes 25 artists from Porto, and it confirms the vitality and creativity experienced in our city. The performances cross dance, theatre, film, music, installation and literature in a programme designed for everyone between 3 and 100 years old. During these festive days, Rivoli will be more thriving than ever, one will be able to roam all its spaces and there will always be something going on. In those same spaces, where we want to record important moments, we’ll unveil the programme for the second part of the season — from March to July 2019 — to all those who come visit us. And we are certain they will be many. We await you to jointly celebrate 100%.
