DDD – Festival Dias da Dança enters 2022 and its 6th edition rejuvenated and redesigned for the times we’re going through. After a cancelled edition in 2020, and a 2021 edition that combined on-line and on-site presentations, we resume our most connective project in full force this year.
Teatro Municipal do Porto (TMP) steers DDD and undertakes it with many partners that make it possible. It will continue to be the driving force behind a festival that is a beacon for contemporary dance. This year, TMP co-produces nine performances, four of which are international ones, and some of which will be presented at Rivoli and Campo Alegre, aside from a parallel training programme taking place at CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva.
You’ll be able to learn about the projects presented at TMP. The entire programme, including other activities, taking place and being carried out in Porto, Matosinhos and Gaia is available at festivalddd.com.
Truly balancing Portuguese and international productions, DDD shows just how diversified contemporary dance is today and in what way it adds to the creation of a meeting place, which in this edition is tackled based on three issues that are key to understand the contemporary world through dance:
Collective – What do we build together?
Plural – What diversity do we propose to find?
Discourse – How and about what does today’s body speak?
We’ll have thirteen days of discovery, during which young artists will share the stage with the major names in contemporary dance. This edition of DDD has been designed for the audience, but also for the local artistic community, who will come across an intense practical and theoretical training programme that is a key tool in the future development of their work.
As usual, Café Rivoli shall be DDD’s meeting point every day during the Festival, also hosting a music programme and DJs in both weekends.
The full schedule will soon be available at festivalddd.com.
