A well-told story remains something around which it continues to make sense for us to gather. We know there are many ways to tell a story – so many, in fact, that at a certain point the story becomes something else entirely – or is it still the same? At fimp’26, we want to challenge our esteemed audience to come together around a selection of works that explore the possibilities of puppet and object theatre as a diverse storytelling medium. Cervantes, Gogol, Victor Hugo, Dostoyevsky, Heiner Müller, José Luis Peixoto, Regina Guimarães, amongst others, can be found in the programmes. These are also productions that have found their starting point in literary works and poetry. After all, these words – some written several centuries ago, others just a few months ago – are quite capable of inspiring us. They are works of fiction that make us think differently about the world in which we live. There are also projects that are very directly linked to current affairs, bringing to the stage concerns that might not have existed in other times, which manifest themselves as a reverberation of reality placed on stage. — Igor Ganda (Artistic director of FIMP)
