Emerenziano Paronzini is a tax inspector searching for a wealthy woman to marry. On a trip to northern Italy, he meets the three Tettamanzi sisters—Tarsilia, Camilla, and Fortunata—heiresses to great wealth. Paronzini decides to marry Fortunata. Once settled in the sisters' home, where he is the center of all attention, he becomes the lover of Tarsilia and Camilla. A classic example of commedia all'italiana, starring one of its greatest performers, Ugo Tognazzi, and directed by one of its "fathers," Alberto Lattuada.
