Rust is a witness to the way time affects lives, be they organic, such as human existence, or inorganic, such as the moulded metal of wind instruments. ferro à ferrugem evokes images and melodies of the ripeness and aging of bodies, of their changes and memories, of the distortion and corrosion the days inflict on both living and inanimate skeletons. — Alan Sencades


Alan Sencades was born in Recife, Brazil. His first circus experience was in 2016, when he started practicing aerial silk. The following year, he developed an interest in the Cyr wheel and began training on his own given the lack of specialised schools and trained professionals. Looking for such training, he travelled to Portugal and joined INAC – National Institute of Circus Arts.
In 2020, he completed his studies, premiered the solo performance do ferro à ferrugem at Casa das Artes de Famalicão, and participated in the CRECE project with the performance alejandra, which was presented at Teatro Circo Price, in Madrid.
