Sinopse
MECHITA is a piece for five women that draws upon the body and sound as living archives, territories of memory and places of resistance. Drawing on fragments of a lost childhood, of freedom, of the voice and of the feminine, the piece weaves together the performers’ experiences and memories, exploring the scars of abandonment, abuse and what remains in the body after what could not be said. On stage, movement, voice and live music intertwine, turning the very act of creation into a form of listening and remembrance. Between the uniqueness of each story and the creation of a collective body, MECHITA seeks out the places where memory is transformed, where the voice re-emerges and where being a girl and being a woman converge. A poetic celebration of transformation, freedom and the ephemeral beauty of life. — Sol Garcia
