Raimund Hoghe presents Moments of Young People with eight young portuguese performers

The 40th edition of the Montpellier Danse festival, which takes place between September 18 and December 28 in Montpellier, France, will feature the performance Moments of young people, by Raimund Hoghe, with a cast that includes eight young portuguese performers.

The world-renowned contemporary dance festival, which usually takes place in the spring, changes its format this year: the program will be distributed over three months, with about four monthly performances, in different venues in the city.
Among the various choreographers who will present works at the festival, Raimund Hoghe presents the piece Moments of Young People with the participation of eight Portuguese performers- André Fonseca, Ana Ester Ribeiro, António Pacheco, Beatriz Valentim, Daniela Costa, Hugo Cabral Mendes, Mariana Magalhães and Pedro Azevedo - joined by four local French interpreters for this presentation.

In 2002, Raimund Hoghe created for the European Capital of Culture in Bruges, Belgium, the performance Young People, Old Voices, with 12 young belgians and french. After touring the work in Europe and the last performance taking place in Barcelona, ​​in 2011, the choreographer, challenged by the artistic director of Teatro Municipal do Porto, Tiago Guedes,went back in March 2018, at Teatro Rivoli, some moments of this work with young Portuguese - professional dancers and non-professional dancers, selected through auditions.

In an interview for dansercanalhistorique, the former playwright of Pina Bausch explains that for this version he reorganized “the choreographic material to create a kind of concentrate of the original play, except for the beginning and the end that remain true to the first version ”.

The performance is presented on Monday, September 21, and on Tuesday, the 22nd, at 8:00 pm at Le Kiasma / Castelnau-le-Lez, under the Montpellier Danse festival.
