The winners of the 2021 Authors Awards, which aim to award "the most important authors and works that have intensely marked Portuguese cultural and artistic life" in the past year, were announced on Saturday, November 13th, by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores (SPA) .

In the area of Dance, the three performances nominated for the 2021 Authors Award for Best Choreography have a common point: the three were presented at the two theaters of the Teatro Municipal do Porto (TMP) in the last two years.

Tânia Carvalho with "Onironauta" won the 2021 Authors Award for Best Choreography — a piece presented on March 6th and 7th, 2020, at Teatro Campo Alegre, days before the TMP programme has been suspended due to the pandemic.

The remaining nominees were "Os Três Irmãos", by Victor Hugo Pontes — who took to the stage of Teatro Rivoli's Grand Auditorium on April 26th, 2021, in the scope of DDD - Festival Dias da Dança — and "Mal – Embriaguez Divina", by Marlene Monteiro Freitas, who, on September 30th and October 1st, 2021, filled the Grand Auditorium of Rivoli with the various faces and forms of evil.
