Sinopse

In the first choreographic adaptation of Os Maias — a cornerstone of Portuguese literature — Fernando Duarte presents a three-act ballet that revitalises narrativity in dance, a dimension widely appreciated and recognised by audiences. This original creation intertwines the dramatic intensity of Eça de Queirós’ universe with the unique expressiveness of choreographic creation, in a contemporary exercise of intermediality that evokes, reinterprets and breathes new life into singular characters and timeless questions, all seen through the lens of Queirós’ sharp irony. A choreographic gesture that unites tradition and innovation, projecting dance as a language capable of telling — and certainly of moving — like few others. This creation also features the musical performance of pianist António Rosado and soloists from the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa. — Companhia Nacional de Bailado
