Sinopse

ONE #1: One: first of the whole numbers; a digit that represents it; just one person or thing; unit; any, certain; the person or thing that is first in a series; what cannot be divided; the same, of the same nature; what is not multiple; whose parts combine to form a whole.

Cristina Planas Leitão is a choreographer, performer and teacher. BA in Dance Performance from ArtEZ, Arnhem (NL), in 2006. She worked
extensively with David Zambrano from 2005 as a student. From 2007 to 2012 she worked intensively with the choreographer Gabriella Maiorino. In 2011, she was one of the initiators of “encontros desNORTE” in Porto. She produces her works independently.

Working on Euripides’“Bacchae” means not only confronting a supposed difficult text but also dealing with the possibilities that the universe presents in a more choreographic and performative construction. Any ancient tragedy is a complex ritual that embraces all the components of performance: music, dance, visual arts and the poem (text). We can explore some or renounceothers, or even raise them all to a level of excellence. In my opinion, this is the main interest in revisiting tragedies in the academic context. – Martim Pedrosa

Martim Pedrosa was born in Lisbon, in April 1979. He has a degree in Performance and Directionfrom the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon. Besides working as an actor with various Portuguese andinternational creators and companies since 1998, he began working as a theatre director in 2005.
