Sinopse

In 73 years, the TUP crossed very different contexts – from the Estado Novo to the post-revolution. This passage would forever mark the associative body. This gives rise to the need to look at this path and “warn, not let anyone forget. Remember, remember constantly. And don't lose your memory. It's up to TUP to be a kind of alarm clock. Do not attack, wake up. Show people that being curious is fundamental». (José Rodrigues). Thus, with this project, we intend to create an audiovisual and artistic record that reflects on the long history and activity of the association in the city of Porto. This is the result of a continuing document creation process. For now, we wake up TUP until 1980. — TUP

TUP was founded in 1948 by medical students and professor Hernâni Monteiro. It is the oldest theater company in Porto. TUP is a non-profit youth association that invests in experimentation, in the power of personal identity, in collective strength and in informal training. The non-professional and university character of TUP is, perhaps, its added value. There is room to tear up with the conventions – sometimes as imprisoned as roots – that the theatrical panorama of the city of Porto still insists on cherishing, there is love in the desire to do as TUP knows and wants to do. In addition to collective staging and the presentation of dramatic texts by authors new to Portugal, we like to create from what is inside – this house, us, whoever is with us. It will be, above all, a question of truth, of our truth – because Theater doesn't have to be a lie. A home in time and time. — TUP
