Whilst spying on her neighbours in search of inspiration for her new novel, Sylvie draws the young Adam into a fictional story that quickly begins to spiral out of her control. Partly inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski’s The Decalogue (1989) and brimming with references to Hitchcock and De Palma, Asghar Farhadi’s new film plays with the conventions of the genre and boasts a stellar cast, with Isabelle Huppert, Vincent Cassel and Virginie Efira in the lead roles and a special appearance by Catherine Deneuve. — Medeia Filmes
