Sinopse
DIAPHANA is an epiphany. Volatile and unstable. Uncertain and fragile. As translucent and honest as an empty glass bottle. Balance, according to Physics, is a state of rest or invariable movement of a body. The act of balancing is also a circus technique that consists of keeping a body on a certain apparatus or object in a state of poor equilibrium. In DIAPHANA, empty glass bottles from the past become material for a relationship of introspection and euphoria. Being alone in DIAPHANA does not mean the absence of other bodies, but the intense presence of oneself under tension and equilibrium. DIAPHANA is a path to get here. — Jessica Lane

Jessica Lane is an actress and circus artist specialising in balancing on wire. She trained at INAC in Portugal and is currently also researching the technique of funambulism, collaborating with the Centre Européen de Funambulisme in Brussels. She has worked as a performer with various companies, including Teatro Art'Imagem. She has paritcipated in artistic residencies at the Escola de Circo do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro and at the Académie Fratellini in Paris. In 2021, she took part in the CRECE project with the Escuela de Circo Carampa in Madrid. Since 2023, she has been performing as a funambulist in the show Ponto de Partida, with presentations in Italy, Portugal, Belgium and Brazil.
