João Barreto Trio is a recent project by young pianist and composer João Barreto. The group mainly performs original compositions, as well as some arrangements of traditional Portuguese songs. The music can be classified as contemporary European jazz, inspired by artists such as Mário Laginha, Esbjörn Svensson, Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, and Avishai Cohen.
