Les Vélocimanes

Etymologically, Vélicomane means “someone whose hands move very quickly.” In the 19th century, the term vélicomane was used to refer to a juggler. Les Vélicomanes create juggling performances. More precisely, we create juggling shows. That is to say, even though juggling is not always visibly present in the company’s creations, they all carry the imprint of the research that defines us above all as jugglers. Our relationship to the object, central to our practice, is nourished by a whole set of techniques, manipulations, and the construction of sequences that make our work distinctive, even if it moves away from a more traditional vision of juggling. Les Vélicomanes is a Belgian non-profit organization founded in 2015 to support the project of the Tripoteur, a duo composed of a juggler and a pianist. In 2018, Les Vélicomanes, together with Cirque du Bout du Monde, produced Der Lauf. Since February 2022, the show Der Lauf has been managed and exclusively distributed by Les Vélicomanes.
