Sinopse

I borrowed Japanese choreographer Hijikata Tatsumi’s universe as a starting point: his writings, his images and his dances, in a sort of phantasmagoria revealed between fascination and fiction. The piece is organised like a pathology danced by a body moving to the outside of itself; a viral, contagious dance that occurs as a premonition of death, but only to reassert life in all its power. — Marcelo Evelin

Marcelo Evelin was born in Piauí (Brazil). He’s a choreographer, researcher and performer, living and working between Teresina and Amsterdam. He’s been working in the dance field in Europe since 1986, collaborating with artists that employ different languages in projects also involving physical theatre, music, video, installation and taking over specific spaces. He’s an independent creator working within the framework of his company Demolition Incorporada, established in 1995. He teaches at the Amsterdam University of the Arts – Mime School (The Netherlands), where he also supervises students in creative processes. In March 2016, together with cultural managers Sônia Sobral and Regina Veloso, he opened CAMPO in Teresina – a new space for thinking about, producing, and publicising art and related disciplines, which includes the studio Demolition Incorporada.
