Metabolic Rifts

By looking into the ruptures in the metabolism of Earth systems, based on the rationale of capitalist accumulation and on the way neoliberal reasoning corrupts its basic renewal operations, the assembly encourages cross-cutting approaches to planetary phenomena. The fourth assembly celebrates the 2017-2018 edition by launching a publication that gathers the vanishing lines, queries and assumptions put forward by its contributors. Based on distinct knowledge canons and morphologies, this publication questions systems of epistemic colonisation and capitalist governance, from ecological deregulation and anxiety somatization to the proposition of care and sociability ethics. The event includes an unprecedented lecture by philosopher Michael Marder on the Anthropocene’s eschatological present and its obscure future.
