Born in Porto, Mateus Barros began studying piano at the age of 6, with Prof. Nuno Caçote, and in 2014, joins the class of Prof.ª M.ª José Souza Guedes, at the Conservatory of Music in Porto, until the end of the 12th year. He is currently studying with Prof. Paulo Oliveira at ANSO–Metropolitan. Distinguished student of the Conservatory, he obtained maximum classification in all the final tests and more than three dozen prizes, in national and international competitions, of which Santa Cecília, Alexandre Scriabin (Paris), Coimbra, Ilda Moura, Fundão, Paços de Brandão, Seia, Ponta Delgada, Elisa Pedroso, Almada, Oeiras, S. Teotónio, Póvoa de Varzim, etc. He was also distinguished with 2 revelation and distinction awards. He was also awarded in several Chamber Music Competitions, notably the Young Musicians Prize and Ponta Delgada. He participated in concerts at Teatro Rivoli-Porto, in S. João da Madeira, in Ponta Delgada, at P.cte Visconde Balsemão, in Vila do Conde, in Paredes, at Teatro Campo Alegre. He attended masterclasses with renowned professors: V. Viardo, A. Malikova, A. Tutunov, I. Kahánek, A. Urróz, Paulo Oliveira, M. Borges Coelho, Constantin Sandu and A. Teixeira Lopes, among others.
