Sinopse
“The Entertainer” (1957) is John Osborne’s second play, written immediately after the stir caused by Look Back in Anger, in May 1956. The text, corrosively nostalgic, juxtaposes the decadence of musical theatre, the artists’ attempts to survival and their poetical anachronism to the decadence of England itself, thus portraying the ruin of a country.
Teatro Experimental do Porto (TEP) is the oldest Portuguese theatre company in activity. It premiered its first piece in 1953. Under the artistic direction of António Pedro (1953-1961), TEP propelled modern theatre in Portugal. Between 1998 and late 2009, the company was directed by Norberto Barroca and was then directed by Júlio Gago. In 2012, Gonçalo Amorim assumed the artistic direction after being a resident director since 2010.
