Os Velhos Monstros do Novo Milénio

The Porto Design Biennale (PDB) is the result of the municipalities of Porto and Matosinhos, on the one hand, and esad–Idea Art and Design Research, on the other hand, sharing a vision of design as a key partner when accessing culture, capable of enhancing artistic thinking and its languages. Taking on as its mission to promote, stimulate and articulate design theory and practice, PDB tries to bring it closer to the industry, the economy and social issues, keeping up with the demands of already existing audiences, while appealing to new ones. The first edition takes place between September and December 2019 in several places in Matosinhos and Porto. Under the headline “Post Millennium Tension”, the programme puts forward a broad reflexion on the emerging transformations that mark the new millennium and on the role design plays in this context of change.
