Palcos Instáveis [Postponed]

BOWND is based on the search for movement linked to the universe of “boundaries”. “Own”, “bond” and “bound” are keywords in a path to build the boundaries of the human being and to more clearly be aware of and express who we are and who we are not, which we can only figure out by engaging with others. Aside from movement, the humanisation of limits—such as body sound, touch sound, vocal sound, breathed sound—creates a silence that keeps changing through a contemporary urban dance language that embraces contributions from hip-hop and house, as well as the movement engrained in each of the performers. – Catarina Campos and Melissa Sousa



In parallel with architecture, CATARINA CAMPOS started dancing at the All About Dance academy. She later had professional training in urban dances at the Flow Dance Academy Paris and the Juste Debout School Paris, and did the Advanced Training in Performance and Choreographic Creation by Companhia Instável. She created the dance and identity training programme Your Hip Hop. She is a dancer in Sandrine Lescourant’s choreographic lab and in Devices, by Phillipe Almeida. She co-created and performed in Ferida, Tres pas sar and Querencia. She performed in Expedição, by Mara Andrade, and A Ideia de Europa, by Estrutura, both belonging to the project €UROTRA$H, by the North Contemporary Ballet, in the scope of which she also created and choreographed the piece Pelo Menos 77. She is currently working with Melissa Sousa to create the project Casamãe, an artistic creation and research platform.


MELISSA SOUSA studied contemporary dance performance at UNEARTE – National Experimental University of the Arts (Caracas) and urban dances at the Peridance Capezio Center (New York). She performed for Sandrine Lescourant (Mufasa), Dana Foglia, Ladies of Hip Hop, Alvin Ailey School and more recently in three micro-pieces by Jorge Gonçalves, Joclécio Azevedo and Catarina Campos, which were part of the segment ÀGORA from €UROTRA$H by the North Contemporary Ballet. She also choreographed En el vacío in the scope of the choreographic lab by Companhia Instável. She founded and is co-artistic director of the urban dances festival LOOP. She is currently working with Catarina Campos to create the project Casamãe, which hosts artistic creations.
