Acima de tudo

Above all, the ceiling. Above
all, the stars. Above all,
restless. Above all, repeating oneself.
Above. All dark. Impossible. Down
below, fallible.

Above All is a piece coming to
question and explore the friction between the
notion of perfection and the flawed
human nature.

Catarina Ribeiro (1997) is a Portuguese dancer wishing to enrich and develop her choreographic language. Her dancing career began in the city of Porto where she attended high school at Ginasiano. She continued her dance training at ArtEZ University of the Arts in The Netherlands. Her pieces stand out for combining strong colours with the contrasting sensitivity and sobriety of her movement. She had the chance to choreograph for Kibbutzim College (Israel), De Nieuwe Oost (The Netherlands) and Instável (Portugal). Catarina has been dancing for Cristina Planas Leitão, Elisabeth Lambeck, Jan Martens, Cecilia Moisio, Monique van Hinte and Felix Landerer. She co-founded and performs and choreographs for the collective Lazy Susan & Co in Rotterdam, where she currently lives.

Keren-or Ben Shachar (1992) is an Israeli dancer and choreographer who lives in Rotterdam. Her artistic language touches on the absurdity of everyday life, tearing down the wall that separates audience and performer. Such split results in moments in which the audience, during the performance, mistakes laughing and crying situations. As a choreographer, she created MASScontemplation (Israel, 2018), Prelude (The Netherlands, 2017) and And All That Pop (Sweden, 2019). As a dancer, Keren had the chance to work with Nicole Beutler, Idan Sharabi, Caroline Finn, Lorenzo Capodieci and the PRIME collective. She was born in Haifa, studied at ArtEZ University of the Arts and attended the professional dance programme Maslool. Keren is also studying biology at The Open University (United Kingdom) and she co-founded the collective Lazy Susan & Co.

Sara Miguelote (1996) is a Portuguese dancer and choreographer who lives in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She first came in contact with dance when she was 5 years old in her hometown, Viana do Castelo. At the age of 16, she moved to Porto to attend the dance course at Ginasiano. In 2015, she joins the ArtEZ University of the Arts, where she continues her artistic journey. During her college years, Sara started developing her artistic identity as a choreographer, standing out for intense looks that draw inspiration from cinema and explore the human psyche. As a dancer, she worked with companies and choreographers such as Club Guy and Roni, Samir Calixto and Daniel Barkan. She is an active member of the collective Lazy Susan & Co since 2020.

Since the Palcos Instáveis series started in 2012, it has encouraged the work of upcoming creators from Porto and the Northern region of the country. Curated by Instável — Choreographic Centre and co-produced by Teatro Municipal do Porto, Palcos Instáveis facilitates artistic residencies to create, produce, announce and present new works, thus enabling the intersection of artistic experiences and providing the city with the opportunity to get in touch with upcoming choreographic languages.
