PÚBLICO RESERVADO

This is the starting point for a play that focuses on theatre. It opens with a displacement: Medea is now living in a caravan. Reduced to a place of desolation and scum, what is left of the Greek priestess?

Renata Portas is a theatre director and the artistic director of Público Reservado, a theatre company established in 2013. She was born in 1976, inzil. She lives and works in Porto. In 2003, she completed the Acting Course at Balleteatro – Escola Profissional, and attended the Master programme in Theatre Direction at Lisbon Theatre and Film School. She started working professionally as assistant director to Jean-Pierre Sarrazac in the play “Cantiga para JA”. She staged plays and texts by authors such as Valère Novarina, Heiner Müller, Euripides, Jean-Luc Lagarce, Pedro Eiras, Juan Mayorga, Carlos J. Pessoa, Franz Kafka, Luis Maffei, Peter Handke and Jean Anouilh. Her most noteworthy dramatic writings are: "Interlúdio e Câmara-Inferno" (Companhia das Ilhas), “Finisterra” (TNSJ) and “A Boca de a Fortuna da Casa” (unpublished).
