Sinopse

We are living in a strange time. When we should embrace tolerance and acceptance, we are going through a period of violence so often focused on discrimination. Nevertheless, the thinking that opposes power has shown resilience and fighting strength. The text by Cláudia Lucas Chéu is based on Orlando, by Virginia Woolf, and builds a narrative that combines Woolf’s fiction and an attempt to reflect upon gender issues and upon the waves of violence they cause. To reflect upon the fact that gender is neither an essence nor a social construct, but a product of power, and to criticise identity categories and specifically identity as a cornerstone of political action.

Albano Jerónimo attended the theatre course – actors training at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School, and co-founded the theatre company Teatro Nacional 21. Among others, he worked with Luís Fonseca, Ricardo Gageiro, Fernanda Lapa, Cristina Carvalhal, Diogo Infante, João Mota, Isabel Medina, John Retallack, Tiago Guedes, Nuno Carinhas, Ricardo Pais, Nuno M. Cardoso, Rui Mendes, Beatriz Batarda, Cláudia Lucas Chéu, Nuno Cardoso, Mickael de Oliveira, John Romão, Jorge Andrade, Carlos Pimenta and Carla Maciel. His directorial debut was Um libreto para ficarem em casa seus anormais [A Libretto for You to Stay Home, Morons], which was followed by Veneno [Poison], by Cláudia Lucas Chéu, that toured several theatres around the country.
