Sinopse
Teatro Praga uses the cooperation between these two cultural clichés to attack a theatrical institution, the black box. In “ZULULUZU”, the theatre building is used as scapegoat for a discourse against all the discourses that claim a space for those who are left out, the forgotten stories and characters, the victims of “that’s how things are” or those who are invisible in front of a black wall. The performance appropriates the vocabulary of post-structuralist, feminist and gender theory and applies it to their own life, a performance based on the life and work of Fernando Pessoa.
Teatro Praga presents itself as a group or federation of artists with pedigree and history who work as a collective, seeking different partnerships and leaving space for performances with varied and unpredictable creative constellation. As every performance, or day, is different, it usually answers the question about who it is with a reformulation of the question. From 2005 to 2015, it produced a large number of performances in different contexts and venues, playing with the expectations of the theatrical tradition and seeking to break down frontiers and limits. It has received several awards in Portugal and collaborates regularly with the most prestigious cultural organisations in Portugal. It has appeared at festivals and theatres in various European countries, as well as in Israel and China, acting in Portuguese, English, French and even Hebrew. It is based at Rua das Gaivotas nº 6, in Lisbon.
