Carl Stone is an American composer, performer and sound artist, recognized as one of the pioneers of computer-created music in the use of samples and digital manipulation of sound. He has been a composer of electroacoustic music since 1972, using the computer as an instrument since 1986. His work has been recorded by New Albion, CBS Sony, Toshiba-EMI, EAM Discs, Wizard Records, Trigram, t:me recordings, New Tone/Robi Droli and more recently by Unseen Worlds. His music has been used by numerous directors and choreographers, including Hiroshi Koike, Akira Kasai, Bill T. Jones, Setsuko Yamada, Ping Chong, June Watanabe, Kuniko Kisanuki, Rudy Perez, Hae Kyung Lee and Blondell Cummings. He has also collaborated with Akaihirume, Michiko Akao, Pearl Alexander, Samm Bennett, Sarah Cahill, Gianni Gebbia, Mineko Grimmer, David Grubbs, Haco, Alfred Harth, Madoka Kono, among others. This commemorative tour of his 70th birthday is his debut on the national stage.
