Sinopse
AZIRA'I is a biographical performance exploring Zahy Tentehar’s relationship with her mother, Azira’i, the first female Pajé of the Cana Brava reserve in Maranhão. Belonging to the category of Supreme Pajés of the Tentehar people, Azira’i possessed rare medicinal and spiritual knowledge. Mother and daughter confront each other within a patriarchal environment, where ancestral traditions face the pressures of a globalized world. Chosen to inherit the gifts of the pajelança, Zahy also bears her mother’s pain and frustrations in the face of a colonial and oppressive context. — Sarau Cultura Brasileira
