Sinopse

In theater, everything is on display, there is nothing between the spectator and the performance, he is responsible for framing and selecting the information that interests him, thus becoming an unequivocal part of the final work. Cinema and its mechanisms create layers and make this pre-selection by the viewer. What does not enter the field of the camera does not exist in the domain of created fiction. In this parents' house we use the theater as the space of memory and cinema as the space of fiction: three brothers return home for a funeral and are forced to interrogate the ordinary, the banal, the hitherto obvious. But maybe they won't question, maybe the obvious isn't that clear, maybe they won't even come back. — A Turma

Text

Author's bio text

A Turma is a theatrical company whose repertoire comprises pieces by key contemporary authors, free adaptations of classics, essays and other literary texts, new pieces and original texts. It sets itself to create memory of its activities by making documentary films, publishing (original texts and translations), touring performances, opening its actions to the public, and organising conferences, interviews, labs and artistic residencies. It fosters cooperation between creators from various performance areas, investing in original content creation, while advocating decent working conditions for the artists. Scenic and dramaturgical research on language and human relations is its strongest principle. It devises and explores communication strategies adequate to each production as an essential part of an artistic process, fostering the creation of new audiences. Since 2018, A Turma has the financial support of the Portuguese Republic – Ministry of Culture / Directorate-General for the Arts.
