Sinopse

UNDERDOG was conceived for an interspecies performer, with text and dramaturgy by Lígia Soares. It explores the idea of domestication as a pretext to address linguistic vices perpetuated by humans when they transfer the principles of dominator-dominated to non-canine companions, violating both species “underdogs”. If, on the one hand, the exchange of predicates that elevates the human to the position of “stage, bed or party animal” privileges the animal qualities of this dyad, on the other hand, the dog-animal is victimized, abandoned, exploited or humiliated, as is the case, for example, of “being treated like a dog” or “working like a dog”. — Mafalda Lencastre & Lígia Soares/ Plataforma UMA

AMORES PERROS is a prismatic and expanded project conceived by the three co-directors of Plataforma UMA, based on their companionship with their dogs. In PART 1, Mafalda Lencastre and Joana Magalhães simultaneously present two shows — UNDERDOG and MATILHA, respectively — and an installation — BISCOITO.
