Sinopse
TAMBOR is a solo piece drawn from autobiographical memories, cultural practices, and experiences of migration. On stage, a body explores intense physical states, drawing on elements of Venezuelan folk dance, street dance and club culture. Navigating between power, resilience and celebration, the choreographic score takes shape through the deconstruction of these vocabularies – rhythm, beat and footwork – with variations in focus and bursts of movement across the space. Symbolism emerges from the evocation of personal myths that act as driving forces behind the creation of gestures and an embodied imagination. Inspired by conversations with my mother, TAMBOR maps out the intimate and social archive, exploring beyond binary logic and the tensions of belonging and not belonging. — Melissa Pérez Sousa / COMMON GROUND
