Sinopse

Mechita is a piece in which six women share a mirrored stage, invoking the body as a living archive, a territory of memory and a place of resistance. Drawing on fragments of childhood, freedom, the voice and the feminine, the piece intertwines the creator’s world with that of the performers, exploring a Romani heritage passed down through the creator’s paternal family. The title, inspired by the affectionate diminutives used to name children in some cultures, invites reflection on an ancestry that persists in the body without asking permission. Mechita is a poetic celebration of transformation, of the collective body, and of the ephemeral beauty of life. —  Sol Garcia

Following the performances of MANUAL DE DEFESA and Mechita on Friday, 27 November, there will be a talk with the artistic teams.
