Equilíbrios is a contemporary circus project that explores the discipline of balance itself as a subject of investigation. The project takes the form of a single-discipline solo piece, using the art of the rolling ball as a means of expression. “What is balance?” is the question that drives this project. Depending on the approach, balance can be understood as a negotiation of forces between extremes. Despite its stability, it is always circumstantial, and tension is an element that is always inherent to its existence. This work explores the concept through practice, seeking to understand it to recognise it in other contexts. —  Pedro Matias
