Sinopse

Didar is a poet absorbed by his daily job at a newspaper. Upon reading the story of a famous 19th century Kazakh poet, executed by power, Didar is deeply shaken and recognizes the hardness and demands of his vocation: he struggles between pain and joy, between successes and failures. Deeply touched by the film, actress Isabelle Huppert says: “I discovered a precious stone called Poet. A far-off story from a far-off country, which was all the more fascinating to me because it grabbed me right away. And that story became mine. Poetry has no borders. The past that is behind our present, the paths that lead to where we are now – they all converge. [...] The magic of cinema takes us far away and keeps us close to each other. This is the miracle that Omirbayev works in Poet.”
