Quintas de Leitura

You Are Welcome to Elsinore, one of the most iconic poems by Mário Cesariny, sets the tone for this session. Quintas de Leitura have been winding words for twenty years. Moved by this striking circumstance, we decided to gather in this recital the poetic statements of some of the authors who shined and thrilled us in the many sessions that have already taken place. We therefore called upon a few of the greatest experts in the art and fury of saying: Teresa Arcanjo, Cirila Bossuet, Joana Mesquita, Teresa Arcanjo, António Capelo and José Anjos. Alex Gozblau is in charge of the session’s image, emphasising the liberating power of words. The evening lights up with the musical and aesthetical elegance of Best Youth, one of the most versatile and mind-blowing Portuguese bands. Catarina Salinas and Ed Rocha Gonçalves step once again on a stage where they’ve been happy plenty of times. Lastly and in its most joyful tone, the disarming sound of musician and songwriter B Fachada, who’s been questioning conventions in his own tone, in his own time and in his own terms for a decade. “Between us and words, we are required to speak”: that’s what Quintas de Leitura has been up to in these 20 years of poetic action.
