Sinopse

Carlos Casas (1974, Barcelona) is a multidisciplinary artist with work developed in the areas of music, cinema and visual arts. He has presented works at Tate Modern, Fondation Cartier, Palais de Tokyo, Centre Pompidou, Hangar Bicocca, CCCB, GAM, Bozar, among others. His musical creation is deeply natural, primitive in the most worthy sense of the word, the result of the recognition of man as a part equal to all others in a brutal and pure nature. It stems from "cut and seam" exercises where sounds, music and voices gathered in your extensive journeys blend together to create unprecedented and submersible soundscapes and where the barriers between darkness and light are diluted to the point of finding the sublime in terror. With Nico Vascellari, he created the von publishing house that since 2008 is dedicated to exploring relations between the sound and visual arts. He regularly edits works covering the universes of concrete, electronic, electroacoustic and ambient music at Matière Mémoire, Discrepant and Second Sleep. His films have been awarded and screened at some of the most distinguished festivals (Venice Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, Buenos Aires International Film Festival, Mexico International Film Festival, FID Marseille). He debuts at the Understage of the Teatro Rivoli for an audiovisual presentation composed of excerpts from his most recent works: kamana (2021), inspired by the culture and traditions of the Aeta, an indigenous group from the Zambales region in the Philippines to Cemetery (2019), which had the sound captured by Chris Watson (Cabaret Voltaire, The Hafler Trio) and was awarded at IndieLisboa, CPH:DOX, Milan Film Festival and Montreal International Documentary Festival.
