Sinopse
It’s like the cycle of life. It grows, breaks up, falls down, and then starts all over again.
Edward Craven Walker, inventor do candeeiro de lava
Lava is a performance-installation proposal created by Solar Corona together with Sérgio Couto - designer from Porto. It is starring the band itself in its Solar Corona Elektrische Maschine format, together with visual artists Bárbara Paixão, Daniel Assunção, Nelson Duarte and Serafim Mendes.
The Solar Corona is composed by Nuno Loureiro (synthesizers / processing), José Roberto Gomes (bass), Pedro Carvalho (drums / percussion) and Rodrigo Carvalho (guitar / synthesizers) with the special participation of Julius Gabriel (saxophone / percussion) in this concert.
This concert is inspired by the lava lamp and its antagonistically repetitive and unpredictable dynamics. In the Solar Corona Elektrische Maschine format, the band detaches itself from the drums, guitar and amplifiers as key tools of the rock music that characterizes it, to fully embrace the improvisation of electronic, digital and analog instruments. It uses new percussions and new methods of amplification and processing, and the bass as a groove foundation, exploring these two aspects: repetition and unpredictability.
