Sinopse

The choreographic composition presented here can represent a ritual, an operative concept in this piece: in (human and animal) societies, fundamental, symbolic or functional movements are ritualised, defined based on a norm or deviation from a norm, standard and innovation, trend and counter-culture. The question is: to what extent is a ritual representative? Are five dancers on the stage interpreting ritualised movements in unison a single body? Is individuality obliterated? Does the spectator’s perception result from the harmony of the whole, from the specificity of each body in action, or from both? “Uníssono – composição para cinco bailarinos” tests three main ideas, from the different meanings of declension: the idea of recreation of senses based on a matrix; the idea that life is a journey towards death, or the decline of the person; and, finally, the idea that it is impossible to decline human representation in art, without rejecting art itself. – Victor Hugo Pontes
