Sinopse

RITE OF DECAY is a dance about death or several deaths. Managing a body that unfolds into others, already extinct or yet to come. Decaying, on display, failing, where everything and nothing, persistence and surrender, presence and absence fight each other in an attempt to reconcile with the end. The end of the world as a metaphor for our own decay. — Joana Castro

The work of Joana Castro (1988, Porto) crosses dance, performance and sound, and she has presented some of her works in Portugal, France, Belgium and Germany. As a creator, she highlights the pieces Perto... tanto quanto possível [Close… as Much as Possible] (2014), Su8marino [Su8marine] (2017/18), Rite of Decay (2019/20), and STILL we MOVE (2021), in collaboration with Maurícia | Neves, and Darktraces: on ghosts and spectral dances. (2021/22).
